Hook Island, Queensland Feb 14, 2012 We were feeding these fish off the back of the boat. Nut sure what kind they are but they were about 2 feet long and would eat right out of your hand. Nest and amazing.
Hook Island, Queensland Feb 14, 2012 Getting our of our suits. It was like they were painted on. While snorkelling we saw plenty of colourful coral, thousands tropical fish and we even followed a turtle for about 20 minutes. The sea was 31 degrees (I think that's about 87 in real temperature), and it was hot (yes I mean over 35 degrees)
Hook Island, Queensland Feb 14, 2012 Del & I getting ready to do some serious snorkelling. I have the yellow fins. We are wearing a "sting suit" with a balaclava. The are apparently a lot of jelly fish in the water around here and I guess their sting is worse that those found in PEI. Although he said they hadn't seen any this year he still advised wearing the suit. If you get stung they airlift you to the Hospital. Guess it's pretty serious. Ah well, discretion is the better part of valour.
Hook Island, Queensland Feb 14, 2012 The four of us with Del at the helm. We sailed from Airlie Beach to Hook Island in the Whitsunday chain, about 22 miles. Had a lunch, did some snorkelling then sailed back. Life is good.
