First actual day and I must admit, New York is pretty intimidating. I managed alright on the subway though after my caramel frappucino from Starbucks down the road and found my way to 5th avenue (after a slightly lengthy walk). I hit the shops. Found Macy's pretty cool but nothing aaamaaazinggg. Loved the giant Victoria's Secret and treated myself to some yoga pants from PINK ready for Zumba when I get back! I stopped for lunch in a pot belly sandwich shop and then continued my wander along fifth avenue. I was pretty amazed turning the corner and just seeing the Empire State! Really out a smile on my face and reminded me of what I'm doing and how lucky I am! I had a quick look in the New York Library and then found the little shop I was looking for - free people. It's this American brand that's just becoming really popular and I think it's gonna be big so went in there whilst it was still reasonable - also got myself the bra I'd wanted from there! Next door was the Rockefeller centre which was pretty cool. I paid the $32 to go to the top and it was so worth it! My first view of New York from above and it really got me excited for the next few days exploring. New York looks so pretty from above. On my way back to Valerie's I popped to see Grand Central Station which was exactly as it looks in the movies. And that's my final thought for today... New York - the accents, the taxis, the atmosphere, the events and just the entire city, is EXACTLY what it is in the movies!
