Diving, what a treat and a whole other world!!
Cecilia (who is an PADI advance diver) and I wanted to go diving, so we wrote to Simon, to sign up for a reshesher course and to join the danes who were taking their Open Water course (the same as I am) s. So up early sunday morning, taxi to Simon (the PADI instructor) and all clamed up in his truck to Mactan Island where we were going diving!
Simon had all the equipment for us, so we just had to find the right sizes for the flippers, wetsuit and BCD (Breathing Control Device).
It has been 4 years since i dived the last time, so the reshesher was in order.
We started in the pool area, which I actually havent tried before - believe it or not - but it was nice breathing under water again. We did a few exercises and then went into the sea.
Cecilia and I went diving with Mike, who is a Master Diver, and it was a nice dive. Not much to see, but nice beeing under water again :) We dive for about 35 min I think, and came up to the beach and on shore again. Then we went into the pool again to do the last excersizes. This was a great day, nice to have it all refreshed again. The next morning, Sunday, we went on an other dive, actually 3 dives in one day - phew :) We met at Simons house to drive to Mactan Island and sail out with a boat. Talima, here we come :) Again Cecilia and I dived with Mike, who took us to the "wall", like in the movie "Finding Nemo" where Nemo wants to swim beyond the wall, but is not allowed to by his father. I felt a little like Nemo, but we followed the wall downwards and accidentally went down to 27 meters below the surface, upsi :) I'm only "allowed" to go down up to 18 meters !! This was awesome. We came up, had an hour of resting, then down again. One of the 3 dives lasted 50 min., and I still had a lot of air in my tank - I was proud :) The last dive we saw a little passage in the wall and went through it. Quite scary, but fun.
During the dives we saw many different fish; dragonfish, Nemo, Trigger, Angel, seasnakes, Starfish etc. We got to feed big fish with bread and we saw what was left of a shipwreck, meaning some wooden/rotten planks.
AND BY THE WAY, I TOUCHED A NEMO FISH weeee. So cute it was!!
On the way home we were all very tired, but in the evening after the Open Water Divers had taken their tests, we went to BBQ with Jonathan who was the photographer/Master Diver. But we were all exhausted, so we went home early, also because we had work the next day.
We went diving again two weekends after the last dive. Again it was 3 dives in 1 day - hard work I must admit. We went to Talima again, but later to a different part. Cecilia, Christian, Raul, Mike, a photographer Dave, and I went down below. We feeded the fish again and saw many pretty fishies :)
During our second rest, after the 2 first dives, we went to a different part where there was a planewreck. So down we went and it was quite fantastic seeing the wreck. Mike swam through the door and cockpit, so we followed. That was VERY cool. I have pictures or a picture where i'm sitting on top of the plane :) We dived further along and came to a statue that looked very much like The Little Mermaid we have in Copenhagen. Here Dave took a couple of pictures as well :)
On the way home i fell a sleep in the car, exhausted -yes, I think so :) haha.
I LOVE BEEING WEIGHTLESS BELOW THE SURFACE, FEELING LIKE YOU ARE FLYING AND SEEING SUCH A DIFFERENT WORLD TO WHAT WE KNOW! It is truly amazing!
More Diving stories will come, count on it!!
