Cebu City is very humid, so we needed to get away after only 3 days in the city! So we decided to go to Bohol which is a little island southeast from Cebu.
We took a taxi to the harbour and hopped on a ferry to Bohol. After approx 2 hours we were on the island and wanted a cab, to take us to Alano Beach :) But after only 2 minutes we were surrounded by local Philippines who wanted to take us to the beach. We decided to go with a dude and his tricycle (see picture in album) - that was one bumpy ride, but what an experience!!! We got to see every little part of the way, cause there was no door.
We arrived at Alonaland Resort, which we thought was closer to the beach, but found out it wasn't further than a little walk. We checked in and went down to the beach to grab a bite to eat. When we finally wanted to lie on the beach, the sun disappeared and heavy clouds appeared. We went home and it started to - sorry about my french- piss down and we were a bit stranded! After a while we went out to get more food, this time dinner, at the restaurant beside us. We wanted to meet the other danish people who also were on Bohol, but we decided not to cause of the weather. We went back home and sat outside on our patio. Jeppe and i decided to go inside because of all the annoying mosquitoes, and Luise came in after a little while - she oppened the door and kicked something that looked like a rock, but suddenly moved. She screamed and ran onto the bed - and screamed :) Hahaha. It was soooo funny, Jeppe and I nearly peed in our pants with laughter :) We tried to identity this moving stone and found out, that is was a crab, a hermit crab with its house. We have taken some pictures, which are also in the album.
The nex day we went on a daytrip to see many of the turisty things on Bohol. Our 1st stop was the ghost monkey, Tarsier, which is the smallest primate alive. It was sooooooooooooo cute <3 After that we went to Chocolate Hills, which is a main attraction on Bohol. There are at least 1300 hills, and the green grass turns brown during dry season. The 3rd destination was the man made forrest, which we took some pictures and went on :) The next stop was the hanging bridge which was to bridges hanging over a river, one over and one back. These stops only took 5-10 minutes, so they were over and done with quickly. The 5th stop was the zipline, which i had looked forward to. I was the only one to try it, but i love extreme sports and speed, so that was ok. I really felt like flying, when i flew down the wire to the other side. Underneath me there was rainforrest and a big river, very beautiful. After this it was lunch time on the river in a floating boat. Mmh, buffet and music - i love it!!! Then we took a little stroll down the river, very nice and relaxing. Half way through there was a cottage with some philippine dancers, who danced a lot for us - very special and nice to see. After about an hour we drove on to the the butterfly resort, where we held butterflies. Then off to touch a python - YES i touch it and EEEEEEW!! For those of you who know me, I DON'T LIKE SNAKES!!! And this was a HUGE one, who had just consumed 2 goats!!!! HOW DOES A SNAKE EAT TO GROWN UP GOATS?????? Anyways, after that we drove of to one of the oldest churches here on Bohol, the Baclayan church, which was very beautiful and had amazing decour!! Finally we drove of to our final destination, the statue Blood Compact, which i'm not quite sure what was about :)
In the evening we went out for food and drinks, mmh great way to end a nice stay :)
Thursday we arrived home and met our new neighbours who are also from Odense, so we went out to eat with them as well.
It sounds like we eat a lot, but we really don't :) HAHA. Those who know me, know i eat - all day all night :)
Friday was the first official meeting with Flemming and the Rise Above Foundation crew, and of course all the other danish students. I was quite shy, but introduced myself to as many as possible :) The meeting lasted forever - really only 3 hours - but it felt soooooooo much longer! After that we went with some of the others to SM Mall, just to eat - AGAIN - and check it out.
Flemming had arranged for a BBQ on saturday which we were all looking forward to. But before that, we went to Banawa to see some of the other students houses. We live in really different places, and i'm not sure which house/apartment i prefere. But then again, our house has a roofteresse where we can tan and grill -> food, not our bodies :) Anyways, we went to Flemmings house, or the RISE ABOVE house where almost all the other students had arrived and were already doing their meet :) We found a place to sit inside and started eating the salad, cause our meet was not done. Flemming did a speech during the food and Simon, the diveinstructor, did one as well :) I really want to go diving, so great with a fairly cheap instructor! We drank and ate, and decided to go into the city - Mango Square - and it was sooooo nice with a night out on town! We came home at 4 in the morning, yay!!
Sunday was all about relaxing and tanning, and a short visit from Jeppes friends from back home. We went out for Korean food, which was very nice and after that a beer. Some random dude began to talk to us, and before we knew it, he had ordered to bloody beers for Luise and me. He said they are meant to cure a hangover, but i didn't have one, so it was quite disgusting! A bloody beer is beer with tomato juice - eeeeeeeew!
We went to bed early that night, cause monday was the beginning of our practice placement. More about that in my next blog! :)
