After a lovely 12hr night bus, with a lad sat behind us treating the whole bus to his best collection of soft rock, we arrived at 8am at Krabi bus station. The plan was to saty in Krabi for a day/night, until we quickly realised theres nothing there and everyone jumps on the next available boat to one of the islands, hence we did the same. Being sorted out with a boat ticket at the tourist information by a lovely Thai woman who spoke really good english, still shocked how much easier it is to communicate than S.A.
Arrived at Ko Phi Phi pier to be confronted with a mass of sales people trying to drag you away to their guesthouse. Eventually Hannah haggled and we got a double room with a fan for 400 Baht a night, a good deal for our first room after the luxury at the Campton's. After inspecting the room for cochroaches (there weren't any) and dumping our bags, we quickly headed of to the beach to relax. With it being slightly hazy and overcast we foulishly thought we would be fine without sun cream, big error! Two very pink lobsters!
First full day we decided to take a boat trip, with Ally & Charlotte who we'd met the night before, where you get taken on a tour of the islands nearby (the island from the film The Beach) & stop at various points to snorkel. It was amazing how many fish you could see, and the different colours of coral. Although it only showed once again how bad at snorkelling I am, much to Hannahs dissapointment when she couldn't teach me! On the way back we stopped of at Monkey Island, I think the name speaks for itself.
Ko Phi Phi is a mad crazy backpackers paradise, with lots of little bars, shops selling buckets of alcohol, and parties on the beach. On the evening we went to eat on the beach in a little, cool, chilled out beach bar, where Hannah ordered a red Thai curry after eating it with Mrs C and loving it. This one not so much, it was a lot hotter! Hotter the next day too! After dinner we went to see a fire show at one of the places on the beach, very spectacular, but if you sat on the beach you could 5 or 6 shows going on at the same time as every bar was getting involved in it.
A LIE IN!! I had been waiting. After a lazy morning we decide to explore, walking across to the other side of the island and all the way down to Long Beach where the beautiful beach huts and villas are. Up we rocked after walking for 45mins looking very sweaty and ready to collapse! Hello rich people!
Hannah thought we hadn't walked enough that day! So she dragged me up to the viewpoint, for that post card view. It was worth being dragged up there (have I mentioned about how hot it is, and how I sweat constantly?!)
An almost nice relaxed day was finished off on the calmer side of the island in our favourite bar, Hippies, with some chilled out music and a pizza (loving Thai food but its like eating McDonalds everyday, you need a break every now and again)(Hannah is telling me off as she wouldnt describe it as McDonalds).
Up early the next morning and on a boat bound for Phuket.
