Well, LC and I have come full circle on our trip. We visited the beautiful islands of Phuket, toured the ancient palaces in Angkor Wat, relaxed on the beaches in Vietnam, tamed wild beasts in Laos and northern Thailand and now we are back in Bangkok awaiting our flights home...
But their was still much to see and do in Bangkok. We arrived in Bangkok from Chiang Mai mid-day on the night train. The rest of the day we spent running around the malls in Bangkok and the night market this evening. The following day we took the sky train to the Mekong river and then bought an all-day long boat pass to visit the Grand Palace and other temples.
The grand palace was truly amazing. It is situated on large compound containing several temples and spires all ornately decorated with colored tiles and glass. See the pictures because words don't do it justice. After that we boarded the ferry to Wat Pho to see the enormous reclining Buddha and other temples. Again, check out the photos. We finished the day with a visit to Chinatown in downtown Bangkok and then had dinner at the mall. We returned to the hotel to find that President Obama has been re-elected and we will turn in now and catch our flight tomorrow.
Lauren and I are very grateful to everyone who supported us in the wedding and honeymoon and we are very excited to return to see you all. LC and I took over 3000 photos on this trip and are eager to show you. This is the final post on this blog but you will hear from us on the next trip. See you soon!
