Our flight from LAX --> Hong Kong could not have gone more smoothly. We were so exhausted and delirious that the 14 hour flight didn't seem too long at all. Ryan bet me that I would be sleeping before 10 minutes into the flight and I was actually out before we even left the ground! We flew Cathay airlines and we would do it again in a minute!
Our layover in Hong Kong was 6 hours and we walked around and checked out a lot of the shops and interesting food stalls. We ate dim sum and had some Tsing Tao beer and then on to Bangkok.
Our flight to Bangkok was also easy and much shorter (only 2 hours). When we got to customs we figured it was going to take forever, but that went really quickly and then we hopped into our taxi cab and ventured into the city center. The Thai people we have encountered so far are so warm and friendly. Our taxi driver congratulated us multiple times and gave us a few insider tips.
I have to say that Bangkok is very busy city! LA traffic can't hold a candle to the hustle and bustle and traffic of this noisy place :) Ryan and I were wide eyed and interested watching the motor bikes whizzing by with children and people somehow reading their e-readers and phones in the pouring rain! Bangkok has a lot more greenery than we anticipated and it combines huge skyscrapers with lush tropical plants.
We were so thankful last night to pull up to our hotel and have the thought of a bed and resting near in sight! We got some much needed rest and had some really tasty breakfast and now we are off to the Vietnam Consulate and then off to explore the city!
