Greetings from Nashville Tennessee!!
Sorry for the lack of blogs so far, it has been more difficult getting the time and internet access to write my blog than I thought.
As you may have guessed I am currently in Nashville. I arrived here yesterday at 10am local time after a coach journey through the night which began at Washington at 5:30pm on the 26th. I am now 6 hours behind the UK. The coach journey wasn't too bad and the hostel here is a really good one.
I have done alot in the last 2 weeks and I'll try to give you a taster of what I've been up to. I spent 3 nights in New York first, went up to Boston for 2 nights and then back down to New York for another 3 nights. New York was really good. The hostels I stayed in weren't the best but it's a great city and I enjoyed exploring all the different neighbourhoods. I went on a ferry over to the statue of liberty, I went to the natural History Museum, took alot of walks around Central Park and did alot of walking generally, just soaking up the atmosphere. During the weekend I was there there was alot of music going on around the city in different public location s which was really good. I spent a day going from neighbourhood to neighbourhood finding different bands playing on the street or in parks. There is always something going on in New York and I found that there would always be something interesting to see or do wherever I went. One of my favourite moments was when I was on a subway and 3 guys wtarted break dancing as the train was going along. It was brilliant and I have the video to prove it.
Boston was a nice place. When I was there the Celtics had just won the NBA basketball league so there was a parade through the city which I watched. My hostel was this old hotel which was virtually empty but apparently John Lennon once stayed there.
In Washington I saw most of the major sights and I really enjoyed the hostel I was in so I decided to stay an extra night longer than planned. Apart from the buildings and museums there isn't much else to Washington and it seemed a little lifeless, especially compared to New York, but I did enjoy my time there.
So now I am in nashville and have met some great people here at the hostel. We all went to a show at the Grand Ole Opry last night which was definately an experience! My next plan is to go to Memphis which I may be able to share a hired car with someone to get to.
Sorry that this has been a bit brief but I wanted to give an overview of what I have done and where I have been. I am having a really good time at the moment. There have been times when it has been difficult, especially in the first few days when I was suffering with jet lag but overall I'm enjoying myself and have had some great experiences.
Hope eveyone back home is well and I will try to keep you updated as much as I can.
Bye for now.
Ryan
