Ok sorry about the delays. I've been sucky not keeping up with my blogs, so you are going to get two oday. The frst being Ko Samui, we were there from the 8th to the 12th.
The journey from Phuket to here was pretty easy we got to ko samui at abour 4pm and got a shuttle bus to Chaweng, where we were staying.
Chaweng is fairly similar to kuta but i found it nicer and little bit less frantically just like everywhere else. Our hotel is nice about 10 minute walk from centrall Chaweng so away from all the noise if we want to sleep. The moonlight, as they were quite they upgrade us to air con which was cool. WE headed into town to get some grub, now thai food is difficut to find but pizza hut and mcdonalds were all present. But we at a place called Khaosan (I think), it was good grub and I had a Gin and Tonic (I needed some spirit after all the lager and this was the first place wed found gin were it did not cost a milllon pounds).
The next day wa stunning so we headed to the beach which was equally beautiful. We spent the day sunning ourselves, i practiced snorkelling with my very own mask (Im gonna look a weirdo when we get to Russia), and swam in the idyllic water. I could have stayed all day. Janec pointed out that the 'sea was massive' which i agreed with it , as it is very large. We headed back to the hotel to de-sand, which took a while and in the process a tropical storm broke out. So to save on getting wet we decided to head to the place across the road for dinner where we got a 10% discount because we were staying at Monnlight. THe food was good thai and fairly good price. I felt naughty so asked Hugo the owner for the dessert menu he told me all about is tiramsu which aparently is very good and made fresh so it might take 10 mins. I said it sounds good but could I have a dessert menu (not in that way but I dont drink coffee so tiramsu not so much). Ten mins later we had neither tiramsu or a menu, we were unsure if either were coming, Hugo had seemed confused. Eventually someone came over and I got a dessert menu, I went for the mascarpone (not thai i know but thats another story), the waitress asked me:
waitress: ice cream, vanilla, chocolate or strawberry
Ruth: Vanilla please
Waitress: yes Vanilla, chocolate or strawberry
Ruth: Can I have Vanilla please
Waitress: yes Vanilla, chocolate or strawberry
Ruth: Chocolate.
Waitress Ok (and she left)
So i got mascarpone with chocolate ice cream, maybe they didnt have vanilla at all but she didnt want to say. We drank sangsom and got merry.
A second day was invested in going to Lamai to see some rock shaped genitalia. We found grandfather ok but could not see grandmother anywhere untill we realised we were sitting in it. It was not the greatest wheather and going to be honest its a very outdoorsy place. Lamai was alright but didnt really seem to have much going for it except a rock penis and vagina and a string of pubs called the Churchill and really ENglish Pub Playing Lots of Sport and Serving Dodgy Food. So we had tea in Chaweng in a stupidly cheap tiny thai restaurant. Yum YUm. we then cracked onto the old Sangsom a (rum whisky - its not sure) and I got addicted to Law and Order (OK we both did) and got a bit drunk. YAY.
Our Final full day in Chaweng, after resolving travel to Bangkok, we did what all English people do whent he wheather is looking grey, we got all optimistic and headed for the beaach in the knowledge we weren't going to see one for a while. We swam lots and lots, and floated in various poisitions. Than got that the chill after sea water that is typical in England which forced us to admit defeat and go home to de sand. We drank some sangsom as Tonight we were going to go to a free cabaret night and we thought if we drink before we wont after to buy drinks in the hotel it was at, we decided to stop somewhere to get a drink before we went in as we had a half hour. One Mai tai! We then got chatiing to this lovely Irish couple who bought us a drink (Mai TAi 2). We tried to buy the next round and failed, turns out this couple were quite well off and very very generous and lovely. So a million Mai Tais later (we did manage to buy a round sneakily), I was drunk and so was Janec. After various conversaions and silly dancing and much laughter with some fabulous people, I was very drunk and had a grazed knee. We had to go home, several hours after we had left and no caberet seen. Oh yeah we had a bus to Bangkok the next day - who planned this? Oh well it was fun.
