Hello Again! We are in Ubud sheltering from a day of rain an getting wet. We are waiting for our bus to Kuta. yay!!
Ubub is amazing fun lots of shops and lots to do. Whilst here we have bargained in the market and shops, eaten some amazing food, met some fab people and seen some great things.
Janec has bought flip flops i know amazing!! Although he has already broken them by trying to get to advanced and running in the rain, I said he needs to wait and that the flip flop run is something gained through practice.
I have grown fond of black tea largely as there is no milk but it is refreshing and Im now drinking lager as its the only thing here.
Our best eat was Warung Igelanca which was dead cheap and noodles. Yum Yum.
We enjoyed drinking in Coffee and Silver where there was a young Indonesian jazz band very cool and we waited out the storm.
Our stay was fabulous in Nicks Homestay which is a traditional Balinese Compound (a walled area with several buildings making a house where traditional Bainese live). Not the best explanation but you gett the idea. We were surround by birds in cages as the owner seems to be a bit of a collector. This was very noisy at about 5am every morning.
We went to the Sacred Monkey Forest (Janec almost wet himself with excitement). We looked around at the temples and macaques but the highlight ha to be feeding the macaques and Janec had one on his head. (Pictures will follow but this computer wont accept them for whatever reason). We went early to try and avoid all the torists and just about managed it. An amazing experience.
Yesterday we went on a bike tour. We were driven at 7.30 am up Gunung Batur's crater where we had breakfast looking across the crater. A stunning view. We then got taken to a coffee plantation where Janec tried lecak poo coffee. He said it was good. We then cycled 25km ( sounds amaxing but it was predominately downhill) but still hard in the heat as it was now gettting towards the hottest part of the day. We stopped at various points to see a real BAlinese compound , the kids there were great, and saw various temple celbrations and a traditional wood carver. It was great to go through real Bali. I would reccomend it if coming here its with Bali Eco. At the end we had the best lunch ever. Yum Yum!!
Today we walked an hour to the Elephant Cave temple area, a stunning area but we got very wet as the rain continued from last nights storm. Sadly Janec wore long trousers so we did not get to see him in a sarong, maybe next time.
We suffered our 6th storm last night and it was a biggy. It continued to rain on and off this morning. Oh well thats wet season.
Next stop Kuta, hopefully it will stay dry enough for some beach bumming and then we are going to an island called Nusa Lembongan, which has no cars and no atms. Hoefully it will be quiet.
Much Love
Next blog probably during a storm in the future. hehe!
Love to all
Ruth and Janec
