hey everyone...
Just a quick post to let you know that we are still up and running on our adventure. We are currently relaxing in Auckland for a few days (we did visit Tauranga a few days ago - its where ruth's mom was born! - cool eh).
Over the last week or so, we've been in the midst of a mini tropical storm that was on our tails on our journey southwards, but we kept going. Some of the worst flooding for yonks! But it didn't stop us, we visited soem outdoor hot water pools at the base of Mt Monganui (next to Tauranga). It was a cool sensation as we were sitting in theses pools under this big hill where the top of it was covered by clouds and it was raining. nice experience.
We also hit the outskirts of Roturua and did zorbing which was real fun!. its where you stand in a big inflatable ball and they push u down the hill. Me and ruthie were both in the same zorb and they throw warm water in as well and then whossh off u go down the hill, its like a big washing machine! we were standing for 2 seconds and then just rolled down the hill!.
Other funky stuff we stumbled on was the national NZ muster in a small place called Te Kuiti. Its like a summer fair in this little town and at the end of it they run 2000! sheep through the middle of the town, its was soo surreal but a classic nz moment so far.
We've also been caving for glowworms, where we we taken on a boat through a cave and theres millions of glow worms over our head.
So thats some of our adventures over the last week, we are picking up another car tomorrow (a RAV 4!!) also with a tent on top. We are heading to town where they filmed the shire in the Lord of the Rings films -get to see some hobbit holes! ( I hear ruth groan in the back as the geeky part of adam is showing!)
Then weather permitting, planning a tour to a live volcanic island where you get to wear gas masks as we get that close.. other things also such as mud baths and spa in Rotorua, bit of luge riding, wine tasting on a bike and hopefully a rugby match in wellington.
We do have lots of pics of our adventures so far and we will put them up in a few days or a week...ish...
Take care,
