Hey everyone!
It's been a while we know, since we last updated the site and looking at it today, STA seem to have changed it about, so you all have to re-learn how to use the site and prove this by posting us a message haha.........
Well we have had a cool time working our way down the east coast towards Sydney. We have extended our stay here by 1 week so that we could enjoy the sights and sounds (we now leave for NZ on 18th March)
Since we last spoke, we left the Whitsunday Islands (hope you checked out the pics!) we did a 13 hr overnight bus to a place called Hervey Bay where we chilled for a fews days to recover from our adventure sailing..... we needed it!!
Then we went to a schweet place called Noosa, which had an amazing beach where we chilled out in great weather and Ad did his first surf lesson (I loved it - ad!!!!) and managed to stand up, so a key acomplishment of the holiday....
We continued south to Brisbane, which was a really, really nice city. I think we were both glad to get back to a city where we could do anything we wanted and also go shopping!!! Brisbane has its own Southbank area similar to that of London, but it was a lot hotter and it also had its own beach (well, a man made one) Ruthie went to here first ever rugby match as we watched the Queensland Reds (they lost. booo). We had a culture day where we checked out some cool museums and arts stuff. We also visited Fortitude Valley, which is like the Kings Cross of Sydney with some cool clubs and bars....
After that we headed south again to Surfers Paradise. It was a cool place - v.tacky and full of americans and Japanese people!!!! Highlights included the Wet 'n' Wild Waterpark, where we had a battle of the sexes race down a water racer (lets call it a draw...) I have a mental picture of ruths face and her scream as we went down this huge waterslide and she saw what was in front of her. There was also a huge wave pool which we had fun in.
Our final day in Surfers, we headed to the final day of the World Surfing Championship - The Quicksilver Pro at Snapper Rocks (how cool does that name sound!!!). The weather was a tad grim at first, but we ended up having a private tour (as the other people cancelled) with an expro surfer dude. It was the best day!!!
We learnt how surfing works and saw the best surfers in the world doing their gnarly and sick moves on the waves (yes they are both 'real' surf words for you non surfers out there) Our guide Mick was a proper aussie guys who told us of some amazing experiences!!
After that fun, we are now in Byron Bay. A cool, hippy place where we are chilling out for a few days. Its blazing sun in the day, then chucks it down with rain and thunder and lightning by night!!! We went bodyboarding yesterday in the huge waves on main beach in the sunshine.
We are going snorkelling with turtles tomorrow so that should be cool and then we have a 12hr overnight bus back to where it all began... Sydney.
SO thats it for now, we will do a huge pic update next week with all our adventures mentioned above.
Having a great time, both bloody knackered, looking forward to our rest (well sort of..) next week before NZ.
Don't be scared by the new layout, you'll get used it soon :)
