Rusty & Bubba - Living The Dream
Ok so we have told you about the raft houses..the next stop was around 2 hours down the line, in the deep jungle, staying in what only can be described as tree houses! about 50/75 ft up tall trees! the accomodation was suprisingly better than that of the raft houses..but certainly not even travelodge standard! in the pictures you might be able to make out that the huts had no windows..and we were warned by the jungle men (moglies as i called them) that monkeys can come and look in your bags and stuff at night time....so yeh that was great news! as we entered our little abode we heard screams frome the hut next to ours..to our delight a snake was making its way up the side of the hut..the inside toilet wall! around 3ft in length..one of the girls went to grab a warden. the warden arrived holding a broom stick, seriously wat the hell was he going to do with a broom stick!? sweep it away..let me just explain these guys are nutters, they live in the jungle and sleep with animals..they are at best insane. the warden proceeded to batter the snake with the end of the broom, clearly this was upsetting the snake and it started curling up on the floor..the warden then pinned down the head and picked it up..clasping its head inbetween its fingers. Seh and i touched the little b*****, felt like rubber but was scary as the warden was trying to be funny by pretending to throw it at us (what a joker) he then put it in a bag to release in the jungle. After this incident and the bubba and I frantically searching high and low in the room we only found a few gheckos ( we can deal with them) once we got ready we had to meet to go river rafting! down in the meeting place i was speaking to our tour leader and he said that a snake in a hut has never happened before and it seemed we were just the unluckiest people he had met!! the snake was a baby python, apparently not enough venom to kill us yet so we shudnt have worried, apparently would have just stung like mad for a few days..so we completely overeacted!!!!!
Onto the rafting..The guide loved the fact i was scared of apprently all jungle animals..so he relished on the fact of filling me in of the wildlife in the river..this included pirahnas and water snakes, both bite so watch ur bum in the ring! As you can imagine i started getting out of the river and was gonna wait till they returned, however nuri told me the guy was lying so i decided to give it a go as the river looked fast and fun. As you can see from the pictures it was soooo fun, well until halfway around wen the guide pointed at a snake in a tree, the snake happened to be a king cobra (the worlds most deadliest snake) this snake is the great white of the snake world, reaching upto 6meters in length and can kill a fully grown human in under 3mins! this clearly made the journey a very scary one, we couldnt get off the rings as its the deep jungle and vehicles couldnt pick us up etc! very dramatic, you will be glad to hear we made it to the end in one piece, a few people got bit by the water creatures but seh and i didnt! so happy days! After the river had come to an end we had a short walk to the bus, this short walk was full with the coolest monkeys! check out the photos, they were swinging all over the van and hugging people, however they were thieving little b*****s and stole hats, cameras and mossi spray! really cute though and we fed them! once we left we made ou way to a waterfall then one of the oldest Buddist Monasterys in Thailand..i shook hands with a monk, he has been around the world and is a teacher in every religion, a very very wise man. After our exciting day it was back to tree houses, we played some "black b****" (the most awesome card ever!!) then up to bed about 10pm..seh and i searched the room, had loads of bugs but decided just to get under out net and brave it..you cud hear things buzzing around, monkeys on the roof..never been so scared..it was the worst point in my life to date..fear makes sleep impossible! thank god it was only one night! choi for now xx
