Rusty & Bubba - Living The Dream
WELL, it been a long 5 days..the longest days of our lives! First let me clarify everything said in this post will sound like we went to bed and dreamt it...but let me tell you we didnt..its all true. Ok so last post i told you guys we were sleeping to prepare..the morning we left we got a taxi/minibus 2 the train station..its called the overnight sleeper train..this means you sleep on it..its was very gross and as you can see in the pictures the sleeping conditions werent like being on the mary as steve would say. More like an inside cabin on a P&O ferrycruise (if thats even possible) We got bored quickly and after stuffing our face with Dunkin Doughnuts we decided to go check out the disco train..we got a lilk tipsy and met loads of travellers! made friends from Oz and they offered us accomodation wen we go there!! we only slept for like 2 hours..wasnt the best preperation for what was coming..WE arrived at surutani, its like a paddington of Thailand..all trains and buses go there. WE got off and had some breakfast then got on a minibus for an hour. then a boat ride across the biggest lake in south east asia..its bigger than the isle of white easily. People live out on the lakes and never go into civilisation as they are self sufficient..our accomodation (as pictured above) was very basic! a bed in a wooden shack, floating on the water. no toilet...no fresh water..the water you see was the water they prepared dinner in..swam in..cleaned clothes in! yeh its mental..certainly not what we expected. This was such a learning curve for the both of us. Animals like you hve never seen before..tarantulas...yes taratulas..they are huge and scare the hell out of me! you could hear monkeys and gibbons all night swinging around. The second day here we went on a jungle trek, four hours in total i think..a little bit of rock climbing involved, we sat at 800km above sea level at the top! it was so rewarding..i looked a mess as you can see in the photo shoot!! it was so hot, somwhere around 35degrees..I was sweating like a legend and the bubba was dripping also. All the time we had things cooked for us like eggs, noodles and fish..it was so nice not to be eating chocolate and crisps all the time. Then we went on a night safari that night and it was pitch black, saw monkeys and spiders..no snakes thank god! After the two nights my highlight was the highest rope swing i have ever seen, we both braved it and done it! after around 4 hours sleep in about 60 hours we hopped on our boat and made our way to the jungle houses..see next post..p.s the kayaking was awesome, we had never heard pure silence before. it was bliss! and we saw a bear and a zebra!! lol.
