Lille is a great place to live if you love travelling, especially in Europe. It just seems to be in the centre of everything and transportation is just never a problem. Thus, for Touissant (a week off for all saints day basically) I decided to go to stay with my friend Lyaman, who is currently studying in Bad Honnef Germany. Bad Honnef itself was a very small town, almost village like. Most of its population was old and the young people were either visiting their grandparents or studying in its only university (or so I have been told) an international school on applied sciences. The Rhine (which the town is built around) was surrounded with mountains, tiny bridges and parks, with lots of ducks and rabbits (during the night!).
However, during my stay there I practically travelled around the North Rhine-Westphalia region. I went to Bonn, but only managed to see it in the evening. I did take picture of the cathedral and we did enter a little café where live music was playing. I couldn't most unfortunately visit Beethoven's house. :(
I did however, get to see more of cologne, a great dynamic city. I climbed the infamous Kölner-Dom and got to see the stunning view of the city from above! We had one of the best strawberry cakes every in a café looking directly at the cathedral. I also had the local beer ( Kölsch) which I loved (probably a second to my beloved Chimay Bleue? not sure yet) We also visited the Chocolate musuem and an public attraction park. The architecture was fascinating and I had a lot of fun.
