Took a ferry from Phi Phi to Ko Lanta yesterday. This place has more of a village atmosphere to it. Very laid back and the people are far friendlier than in Phi Phi. Checked into a really nice hotel...family run again only steps from the beach...they even offer dirt cheap massages right next to the pool...might be tempted at 4 pounds a hour!Loads of germans staying at the resort and in true (stereo)typical fashion they keep hogging the loungers!
Went for a fab meal at a beach restaurant next door to where we're staying...laid ont he beach with these funky mats complete with cosy cushions and watched the sunset...a couple of fishing boats bobbing up and down on the water, cocktail in hand and chilled out music to match...heaven...well it was until Nathan decided to take "chillin" to a whole other level...he got stuck into several LARGE bottles of Chang beer and at nearly 7% they were bound to have an effect...sure enough when the night entertainment started Nathan was the only one whooping and hollering egging the whole thing to start. OH MY GOD i was ready to bury myself in the sand!! However the entertainment had started...came in the form of Romeo the Firestarter/Juggler. Fab act juggling fire set to music an flame lanterns framing his beach stage...he did do one act set to "The Beach" music by the All Saints (lttle cliched) but still very nail biting esp as one point he poured too much kerosene onto the juggling batons and nearly took off his hands whilst almost settingfire to his shorts - now that act I would have paid to see!!
Afer this we decided to hit the sack (itsssss sooooooooooo tiring doing nothing all day!) but I think Nathan was inspired by Romeo's act and so when Nathan stood up (which took a while) he tripped in the sand and nearly landed head over heels on top of the group sitting in front of us. He then staggered back to the room past the Germans who had a "oh-gosh-there-goes-the-english-lout" look on their faces. To cap it all the electricity went out and it was pitch black in our room...so obviously Nate wanted to use the loo...cue disaster!!
Oh forgot to mention we took a snorkelling trip whilst on Phi Phi...which could have been our last as whilst we were in the water "swimming with the fishes" the boat we were one f****d off without us!!! OPen Water the film sprang to mind and I started to panic...luckily a really nice Dutch diving bloke spotted us and let us board his boat while he radioed the dozy b*****s who forgot about us to come pick us up!!!
