Monday 25th January
No one on the slopes today as it was raining! I felt like I was back home, and I disliked this weather ALOT! The mountain was also shut due to the high winds we had. I think it was around 40-50km/h. So none of the lifts were open!
Instead we did theory work, well when I say theory work, the skiers did this, however we boarders do not have much theory so we watched some videos of boarders doing cool tricks! Which was amazing! Much to the disapproval of all the skiers!
I also had my first french class today. It was extremely eventful! There was a slight drip in the roof (not uncommon here as people don't really know how to use showers and shower curtains!).
The guy in front of me was complaining he was getting dripped on and wanted to move but the teacher said its fine, it will stop. Literally 10 seconds later, the roof fell in. All over the guy in front, myself, Ali and Dan. I don't think I have laughed so much in my life. It was slightly annoying as laundry day was two days away and I had to change all of my clothes!
Tuesday 26th January
Managed to get to the slopes today, luckily there was ALOT of snow fell over night which covered all the ice up, which made it lovely to board on!
We had hockey practice today. We have a tiny ice rink outside the chalet, it was extremely, I really mean extremely slippery! I had an epic fall where three of us fell over throwing our sticks into the air. I actually wet myself laughing. But I did set up a goal! We won 2-1 in the end!
Wednesday 27th January
The slopes are still nice to board on. Lots of snow! Did a few small jumps which were amazing and I managed to land most of them!
We all chilled out in the bar as boarders had level 1 selection on Thursday and the skiers had level 1 exams. So we chilled out and went to bed at a reasonable time!
Thursday 28th January
Felt a bit off this morning, but headed towards the slopes as the fresh air always helps. We had selection today, so we were doing our first run, chilling out to get into the swing of it. I was practicing my turns and speed, when I caught an edge hit my hip/back on the ground, then hit my head and some how managed to flip over onto my stomach. This is where I laid for 5 minutes in pain and unable to move. I don't think I have been in that much pain ever or even cried that much in my life. I managed to stand up and countinue to board. I was terrified of falling again and felt really sick. I stopped near another ski group where they called the ski patrol. Ski patrol are the people that come and help people who have injured themselves and need help going down the slopes to get to hospital or the clinic!
So Dominque came and spoke to me, I am surpised he understood anything I was saying. He suggested I went to the hospital as I felt sick and dizzy (a sign of concusion!) and i couldn't move my hips that well. So he got a group of ski patrol to wrap me up and put a neck brace on. Put me into the toboggan to meet the ambulance. The ambulance took me to the nearest hospital 30 minutes away. Where I laid in a bed for only 2 hours compared to 10 hours some of the other gappers have experienced.
So $700.00 later the doctor told me I had damaged my ligaments in my hip/back and couldn't board for a week. Which really sucked. Got back to the chalet and meet up with my friends who had heard I went to hospital and had brought me a toy Elmo with a canadian shirt on to cheer me up. Which was very sweet!
As it was our last day of skiing this week as we were going to Quebec on Friday, everyone was drinking alot. However I was on strong pain pills and wasn't allowed to drink. Not that this matter as they all regretted it the next morning!
