Yesterday we started the day off by going for breakfast where we both had corn flakes, the milk was so warm and tasted sour...good start. We then jumped in a Tuk tuk and asked for a tour around Bangkok, so Lin our driver said he'll take us to all the free temples for us to visit for only 20 Baht which is 48P! When we got to the second temple, a thai man made conversation with us and turned out to be a really nice man, he told us all about the lucky budda and asked if we could say a prayer with him, so we did. When then went back to the Tuk tuk, the tour was over an hour and everything was going well until Lin (the driver) wanted us to go in a few shops for him so he could get gasoline tokens so we agreed that we would go in a tailors and look at suits. After making our excuses we got back to the tuk tuk and went to a tourist information shop. We said to the guy that we fancied visiting the floating markets and also get a bus down to the islands in the south of Thailand, he quotes us 7,000 baht which is nearly 200 pound so we also left there sharply! Lin then asked if we could go in another tailors for him so he can get another token, he did well at convincing us "good for you, good for me" or "you no like, you no buy, no problem"and because he had been so nice we felt sorry for him so we agreed.
We then got back to the tuk tuk and asked to go straight back to the hostel with no more gasoline token stops so we're going along and we break down.....he run out of gasoline!! He then asked Jay to get out and push start it but itdidnt work, just made Jay sweat. Nice one.
We then tried to get another tuk tuk but they were asking for 500 baht which is a total rip off so we told them where to go. We then found another tuk tuk which we agreed on 60 baht, after 5 mins we got stuck in traffic and he asked us to get out, we were not having any luck.
Anyway we did manage to get back in a taxi as we certainly had our fair share of tuk tuk that day.
We got some more street food and freshened up and went for a couple of beers. There we meet a few people and it was really nice to share our info and stories with each other.
This morning we checked out of our hostel and we have bought our bus tickets to go down to Ko Tao, which is known for snorkelling and diving. Only cost 500 baht each which is around 12pound and it includes our ferry. Abit of a difference in price from the 7000 baht we were quoted yesterday. We've been told that it will take 15 hours on the bus!! We leave around 6pm so will be there some time tomorrow. We're hoping to get started on the tan (Rox is anyway)
Two days has been plenty on Khoa San Road, cant walk any where without being harrassed. "you want suit" "where you going, tuk tuk?" "massaaaaage"
Considering its monsoon season, we've not had any rain, only a couple of spits last nite.
Rox is trying to go with the flow and not book a hostel in Ko Tao, hopefully we'll find one when we get there.
Love you all,
xxxx
