I am sat in Chiang Mai writing this blog, and the difference betwen the both places I have ben in Thailand is dramatic! Bangkok, where shall I start. Nights very good days were too busy, too stuffy, crowded, and I was scared to walk about incase anyone tried anything funy. A bit extreme? Probably, but it was such a culture shock after Hong Kong.
We spent our 1st night walking down the Khao San Road, which was lovely to be looking at things and people. We actually sat in a bar and watched all the poeple going about their business, was relaxing for the place. Everyone was hounding you to buy something, a suit for you sir? A necklace, some shoes a ping pong show! I mean you can literlly get everything and anything you want down that one road! We actually eneded up clubbin Was a good night. The second night we went to a bar about 2/3 doors down. on the 3rd we met a Canadian couple and went out drinking til 2am with them - was difficult geting up for our 8:30 train to Chaing Mai but we managed!
It's a bit do as you like really the cars, bikes, buses even taxis don't stop for red lights so some days I was playing chicken with very mental drivers. I feared actually going out at all incase someone pestered me into buying something etc. Tehy semed nice but were probably eyeing up your wallet and bags.
Our hostel was ok, it had a bed and a bar downstairs was in a good location and the people were very friendly, which made the experience bareable! I felt sorry for Chris who had to deal with me being TOO over protective, which is why when I came to Chiang Mai at 1st I was thinking people were following us or up to no good when infact it's a beautiful place to spend time and enjoy Thialand for it's beauty, not it's cheap knock off's lady boys or just sex.
Bangkok was a real big let down, would I go there again? Probably not although we made the most of what it was, it wouldn't be a place to visit next time I come to Thailand!!
Well til my next update.. Take care xx
