We managed to negotiate the roads to leave Tulsa. With the storm we had snow, freezing rain, sleet, hail, thunder and lightning. The only thing we missed was a Tornado although I probably shouldn't say that.
With the roads around Tulsa declared as treacherous we missed out on seeing THE WOR:D'S Largest # 13 which is the world's largest free standing statue of an oil miner at the Tulsa fairgrounds. We laso wanted to go to O;;ies restaurant which features model trains running around it but the roads didn't permit.
Unfortunately with the weather being so foul, (all schools in Ok closed and most government buildings together with most museums) we were unable to see lots.
We did however visit the Oklahoma City National Memorial remembering the atrocity committed by Timothy Mc Veigh on April19 1995.
OKC (as we locals refer to it) also boasts a huge milk bottle but as it doesn't claim to be the world's largest it doesn't go into the count.
We also drove past the Oklahoma Country and Western Hall of Fame and the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum which featured the World's Largest Cowboy Statue. We weren't tempted to go in.
At Bethany we crossed a beautiful Iron Bridge built in the early 1900's.
On to Yukon, home of Garth Brooks ( C and W Singer ; obviously likes both kinds of music), fortunately we didn't see or hear him.
We are now in Weatherford, home of Thomas Stafford, the astronaut.
Tonight Peter convinced me to eat at a Mexican Restaurant. I had minced steak and beans with a folded pncake only they didn't call it that.
So tomorrow off to Texas and probably Amarillo
