End of day one. Plan was to get though IL. Started in Chicago and saw both the start and the end of The Route before leaving the city. Drove the old alignment which most of the time doubled as the frontage road for I-55. Interesting however to drive through all the little towns. We saw a lot of trains along the way and new rail being layed down. John loved the trains of course.
:) Tomorrow we get a jump start on Missouri and will be stopping in various towns to check the sights.
