G'day cobbers! How are ya all? enough of that.
Where was I up to on my exciting journey ? Yes got back to queenstown - it peed it down on the Thursday so we were a bit fed up as were eager to Jump. then woke up to bright sunshine and relatively clear skies so it was on! We were booked in at 2:30pm so there was a lot of hanging around to do, coffees, watching workmen working very unsafely - Gerald would have had a fit - and someone ride their bike into the back of a stopped car, which was quite funny.
Then 2:30 came and it was off to their airstrip (the company is called NZone) and kitted out for a 15000ft Jump out of a plane! Vic the jammy b***** had a lovely guy called Howard, I got a czech without a sense of humour! Still it was all pretty damn brilliant. Had my initial doubts as Vic and her guy went out the plane and then it was my turn and less face it I didnt have much option but go. It was seriously scary but really really exhilirating all the same. - not being able to breathe properly for a minute as you go tumbling out of the sky into clouds and then suddenly the parachute opens (evidentally) and all is chilled out and totally calm. the views were quite fantastic - Remarkable even (we flew over a range of mountains called the Remarkables by the way!) and then we landed, a bit roughly cos I thought we were landing on our bums like everyone else but he expected me to walk! I ask you! so I ended up stumbling and bending my leg under me! the DVD and pics should be quite amusing - not sure if i will post them on the site.
Was so chilled out afterwards tho - just had a big daft grin on my face! Definately glad I did it. Really worth it.
We were starving after so both had a telepathic Fergburger moment (neither of us wanted to walk past Fergburgers and not walk in - it would have been quite quite wrong!). then we mosied up to Mount Cook (Glentanner to be precise) stuffed full of Fergburger and listening to the Fratellis and Arctic Monkeys well chilled.
On Saturday I did a helicopter trip up to one of the glaciers next to mount cook then a fly around which was really cool too as i have never been in a helicopter. then we set of for Oamaru which is on the East Coast
Went via the Moeraki boulders which is at a beach at Moeraki (No surely not!) and popped up to Shag Point where I caught a couple of seagulls at it.
Oamaru is a bit of a dump but it does have one thing going for it - Blue Penguins. They are the smallest type of penguin and there is I think the only breeding colony at Oamau. It was quite enchanting. Sat there watching them come in from their days fishing, give a worried look at a sleeping fur seal and leg it across the road in little groups to their nest boxes. Saw a Penguin chick too. and some random penguins wandering round the harbour as we drove off. Didnt PPP Pick up one tho but was very tempted, no photos I am sorry to say cos the flash upsets them.
then it was the trek back to Christchurch via Geraldine and Mt Hutt, drop off a very used Johnny and catch the plane to Sydney whereI am now!
See ya for now
