Over the past 9 years, the Swan City Rotary Club, Grande Prairie Rotary Club, Grande Prairie Sunrise Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of Edson have worked together to donate 45 vehicles (fire trucks, ambulances, school buses and handi buses) to the Rotary Club of Mazatlan who then distributes the equipment to meet the needs of their community. This year we are taking 3 fire trucks, 1 water tanker, 1 ambulance and a school bus. The Rotary Club of Edson will also be delivering much needed firefighting equipment to the firefighters of Mazatlan. The City of Fort McMurray, Town of Slave Lake and Woodlands County Fire Department have donated an extensive amount of fire hose, helmets, boots, protective clothing, breathing apparatus and firefighting equipment.
The six vehicles will be driven from Alberta to Mazatlan by a team of volunteer Rotarians from Grande Prairie and Edson with 2 drivers per vehicle. It takes about 1 week to make the trip to Mazatlan. Once there, the vehicles are provided to the communities. The group will depart from Grande Prairie and Edson on March 9, 2012.
Thanks for your interest in the Rotary to Mexico project.
If you visit our blog and pictures, please make sure that you leave a message for the drivers- it is appreciated.

Roy Thank you for helping the people of Mazatlan. They are great people who have been kicked while they were down, but you are helping them back up.
