Ross and Gabs Travels
We left Kimba this morning after an almost continuous night of rain. I think the rain has followed us since we left home. We arrived here at Ceduna (which means a place to sit down and rest) after expert guidance by our My Escape Navman. What a great tool it has turned out to be. You put in the name of the town you want to head to and up comes a list of everything it has in its database in that town, including caravan parks, so it takes us right to the door.
This caravan park (Shelly Beach Caravan park) is right on the coast, just a short walk over some sand dunes and there is the ocean - just beautiful! The rain has gone for now and it is quite comfortable in short sleeves.
We had a look around the town and bought some "stuff". A cordless Electrolux vacuum, which works beautifully in the caravan and for cleaning out the car. We also bought a small aluminium table. When we were packing to come away we said that the large table we had last year was just too much- too heavy and too big. We thought that the fixed table on the outside of the van would be enough. It's not, so we invested in a small light one.
Last night we went out for tea to a very nice hotel on the foreshore with views of the ocean and the islands in the distance. The meal was lovely with help yourself to as many hot vegetables and salads as you wanted.
Today we went shopping for food for our trip across the Nullarbor Plain, beginning tomorrow, Sunday. It's a 13&1/2 hour trip by car if you don't stop. We had put some vegies and fruit in the basket when we met some people from the park travelling east and I asked if quarantine conditions for fresh fruit and vegies applied travelling west and apparantly they do so we went back and put most of the fruit and vegies back. The people I spoke to have been "roaming" as they call it for seven and a half years. That is a long time to spend in a caravan together.
We will have spent three nights here so we are well rested and looking forward to continuing the journey.
