Rosie and Joe in South America
hola a todos. Went sand boarding the other day... brilliant! the sand boards were prety damn shoddy tho so most of us opted for lying on them and going down the virtually virtical sand dunes head first, terrifying but great fun!! the sand buggys were a huge laugh aswell we were thrown all over the place, a natural rollercoaster ride. the sand dunes themselves were out of this world, what i imagine mars to look like. after two hours of travelling the dunes in various manners we stopped to watch the sun set over the oasis we were staying in which was as gorgous as it sounds.
we are now in Cusco. the journey here was a certain experience. seated next to the toilets, which as you can imagine absoloubtly stank, and graced with the company of a very sick person throwing up constantly for the first 13 hours we thought it was never going to end! it was hell. whilst we both attempted, and failed, to sleep through the night the bus wound its way up the hairy roads of the andes. felling very tierd and uncomfortable the motion sickness began to kick in but thankfully neither of us were sick. so just as i thought i couldnt take any more the sun began to rise and we were confronted by the incredible Andes. i have never seen such beautiful scenery in my life, these monsters are just incredible. so massivley rich in agriculture, plants in all the colours under the sun and loads of animals- pigs, cows, sheep, llamas, donkeys, dogs... you name it! we drove through 100's of miles of farm land (still up and down through cloud canapes) whole families working, from tiny kids hurding cows 5 times their size with gigantic horns to old fragile women with babies slung over their backs picking corn. it was just gorgeous. so here we are in cusco which is mucho touristico but beautful all the same. the buildings are very intresting some are half built in Inca stones and half Spanish colonial. hope not to have bored you with this long entry. embarking on the inca trail in four days and hopefully going horse riding through the andes tomorrow. lots a luv, gotta go. xxxxxxxxx rosie and joe.
