Rosie and Joe in South America
hola todo, we are back in La Paz after our three day choro trail treck into the rainforest with just a tent, food and a compass... we survived!!
It was absoloubtly beautiful, we started at 4800 meters and climbed down for a day to a gorgeous little village in the valley. god knows how these people survive in such unbelievably remote surcumstances. we camped just outside the village. the second day we got up before sunrise and trecked up and down deeper into the mountains getting into the rainforest. didnt see many animals but the scenery was gorgeous, hundreds of huge waterfalls and the most gorgeous flowers. we have seen loads of humming birds that fly away the second we attempt to get a pic.
camped for the second night on the edge of a mountain surrrounded by banana trees and fire flies and cooked up some delicious tuna pasta (thinking of wiz!). again got up to watch the sun rise.. absoloubtly gorgeous. The third day was tough at first but we eventually made it up to another camp site where we realxed for a while whatching eagles circle below before we climbed down for two hours in the blazing heat. quite a bit of sunburn later we arrived in Chairo where we got on a jeep to Coroico.
We were expecting our bags to have been sent to the town from La Paz by our tour guide friend, Aldolfo but they were not there. by 10pm i was panicking about them, imaging the worst but we spoke to Aldolfo the next day and they arrived at 4pm. despite having to wear our filthy clothes for a day it was lovely in Coroico and we found very nice Hotel just above the town looking over the valley.
we completley spoilt ourselves for a couple of days, swimming in the pool, sweating in the sauna and sleeping in hammoks, it was so lovely. stayed there for three nights and did absoloubtly nothing... wonderful!
Anyway we are off agin tommorow up huyana Pichu, a mountain on the north west side of La Paz. we will spend the first day climbing ice cliffs, the second climbing up to about 5700 meters and the third climbing the summit... 6088 meters above sea level!!!
sounds cool! anyway hope all is well with all! Loads a luv. xxxxxxxxxxxx rosie
