hello from Sydney (not the aussie capital I have just learnt!)
I'm sorry that it's been so long since I last did an update- been both super busy and feeling a little homesick which has stopped me wanting to write to you all...
Am having a really good time though- met up with Ross and Spence from sixth-form, Susie from Riverstation, and Mel from the Crown in Cleobury! So many people here at one time, which has been fantastic 'cos I was quite missing the company of those I know when I was up the east coast. Obviously, it's Mardi Gras month at the mo so I've been spending lots of time dancing to cheese and trance in the city's many gay bars- hurrah! It's the big parade and massive party tomorrow so I will update on news from that exciting event and pictures of me in burlesque costume (any excuse to prance around the streets in underwear heh?!)
Have had a wonderful day today. Went with Ross, Spence, Anna (Ross' friend from uni who is from Bristol and who, along with Ross, I will be travelling around New Zealand with) and Susie to the Blue Mountains- so beautiful! Also just a really funny day: road trips with Ross and Spence smack me back to being 18!
Have liked Sydney a lot, though I can't help thinking that it's just a lot like London but smaller and a little less interesting! Maybe I just need to spend more time here at some other point...Didn't help that I flew into a storm and then it rained for 3 days- boo. Has been fantastic weather since though (don't worry, I have learnt my lesson and am slip slap slopping all over the shop). I'm staying in Kings Cross which is the seedy part of town, though I really like it 'cos there are loads of lovely bars and shops and the hostels we've been staying in have been really friendly (think I may have got a little too friendly with some bed bugs in one of them though)
Am very much looking forward to leaving the city and heading to the magnificent countryside of NZ (though not to splitting from Susie and Spence again), and it is going to be brilliant having some company- have got on so well with Ross and Anna, think they will make wonderful travelling partners.
Sorry that this blog is a bit all over the place- I clearly shouldn't leave it so long between doing them-Plus this whole hostel living is not a way to get much sleep so my head is a little in the clouds!
Anyway- will let you know how tomorrow is and how I'm finding Christchurch (my next stop!).
Love you all and miss you all very much xxx
