Hi everyone,
As you may already know i had booked a flight to bangkok, where i was going to get another flight to Phuket to meet Paul Read. And as you may also know my plans change more aften than i change my clothes (joke)! Well i DID fly to Bangkok, that didnt change, but instead of getting a flight to Phuket I decided i would get a flight to Kuala Lumpur instead and catch up with Shellie and Kate before they went home to Birmingham! I also managed to persuade Paul Read to meet me there too! This proved to be a very good decision even though i had to spend 10 hours in Bangkok airport waiting for a flight and another 3 hours in KL airport waiting for Paul (Making my whole journey from Perth a 26 hour adventure!). It was well worth it as KL is an amazing city!
Our first full day there was class. We went to the twin towers (Where they filmed 'Entrapment' with Sean Connery and Catherine Zita Jones) where you are allowed up to the bridge that connects the two on the 41st and 42nd floors. The view from there is amazing, you can see the whole city! I wanted to go to the top of the towers and even tried to bribe one of the tour opperators but he wasnt having any of it so we had to settle for the bridge! It was still good though!!!
That night we went out for dinner in a nice restaurant. The meal we had was one of the worst meals i have ever had! I ordered a sort of mix grill and when it came out (on a sizzle plate) my chicken was still clucking, i had to finish cooking it myself on the sizzle plate!!!! Paul, Shellie and kates meals were no better, and when the cockroach we caught under a glass called all his friends we decided enough was enough and left! This however didnt spoil our night, we moved on to the 'Beach' bar where they had a live band playing, they were a bit slow to start with but then it all went off and we had a cracking night, crawling out of there at about 3 in the morning!!!!
The next day we had a bit of a lie in then went to some caves that i cant remember the name of now, where you go up 270 something stairs and in to the caves. Inside was a small temple where we all got 'blessed' and had a red dot put on our head for good luck! It obviously didnt work cause when i rubbed it of i didnt win anything ha ha!!!
That night we went to the chinese market where you have to barter for everything! After a bit of a nervous start and some coaching from Kate and Shellie i soon got into the swing of it! I ended up buying about 20 cds 10 dvds (about 30p each and good copys) a couple of pairs of shorts and a pair of Pumas! I spent about 30 quid! It was good fun and hard work at the same time!!!
Unfortunatly our flight to Phuket was the next day so we left the girls (again) and headed off to the airport. It was good to see them again before they went home and im sure i will catch up with them when i finally get back to O' Blighty!
I will keep you all posted on the next leg of my journey but gotta go now, so take care! Adam x
