NGAIRE:
We left Dechmont sadly on Tuesday morning, having enjoyed our time with Tom. It was so nice catching up with him again, and really nice to see Robin too. Robin was well, and we had the chance for 2 visits and a crack. That was good, as were the wee drams that Tom and I shared each night! Thank you again Tom!
Up onto the M8 and over to Glasgow Airport to collect Steina from the flight back from Copenhagen. Hamish and I had time for a hot drink, then wandered down to the arrivals area. Scooped her up, on with Tim the TomTom (our SatNav) then off to find Cian and Ann's place. Slight confusion on the roundabout right at the Airport when Tim was saying Keep Right and Take the left Turn - I went around that round about twice, had a man toot at me, then got in the wrong lane after I did take the left turn! That meant an extra wee trip along one side of the airport and back to the same roundabout. Hey Ho, and round we go.......
Arrived in Hillend Crescent after travelling what turns out to have been the scenic route. It would have been a lot quicker to have hopped back on the M8, but not to worry! Hamish and I have spent two nights with Cian and Ann, and Steina has been staying at Ann-Mary and Tommy's house which is not far from here. They arrived over here after tea on Tuesday night, and scooped up Steina. Tuesday night had its drama for those of us at Cian and Ann's - about 12.30 in the morning there was this horrific crash upstairs. I was downstairs uploading photos, and everyone else was in bed asleep, when this noise happened!! Cian and Ann were out of bed so fast I think they only woke up when they reached the head of the stairs, so I was greeted with these two startled faces. We knew Niamh was ok, and quickly checked that Hamish hadnt had a bad dream and fallen out of bed - after that, Cian and I scoured the house for burglars. Turned out it was the wee unit over the shower that holds shampoos etc - it had collapsed and it and its contents had fallen into the bath!!! WHat a racket it made. Much relieved, we all headed to bed!!!
Wednesday's plans were for a play at the Glasgow Science Centre, so we were all meeting at Ann-Mary's at 11 a.m The team had grown by the time we all met up - Ann and Niamh, Ann-Mary and granddaughter Louise (14 months), us three, and two of Ann's brothers Martin and Michael. Ann was laughing when we got there, because our cars had gone straight to the Science Centre aided by our Tom Tom SatNavs, while the un-guided Glaswegians (Ann-Mary, Louise, Martin and Michael) had got lost and then phoned Tommy for directions! Once they got personal directions from their very own "Tom Tom" they were right though!
HAMISH:Yesterday we went to the Glasgow Science Centre. It was cool - there was lots of cool stuff, and it was just COOLNESS! There were 3 whole floors of things to do, in this whole big building and that didnt count the bottom floor where you went in/buy stuff to eat/play with other sciency stuff. We did stuff with connecting sticks and balls, to make lot of shapes. Oh yeah, and I got my head chopped off, so Mum will have to write the rest he he he he! I had a Kinex race - I won ( And dont you dare say you won Mum, because I did!!) We also built stuff with those triangle and square thingies we have at school - I dont know what they are called. We made an short animated film from birds eye view and sideways view. Our models were plasticine, and we made a pig a man and a tree. The sideways view was different because it had a fence around the pig and the other one didnt, plus it was in Wallace and Grommet's kitchen. Too much information, and no more! There were Innovation Stations on the Innovation Challenge Trail around the Science Centre, and on one of them we had to build a free standing tower using 2 pieces of A4 paper and sticky tape. You win if you can make it higher than a metre. I was second to get mine over a metre, but mine happened to be a paper plane which could fly higher than a metre, and it flew by itself. Mum was the third person to build a tower. Steina helped by holding it while Mum put the selotape on. Mum's was just over 1 metre. Martin's tower was over a metre too. There was a three layer Tick Tack Toe, and a giant Connect Four. There was a giant table that spun around, and we put wheels on to it and they rolled and spun around. There were four wheels, and unless you had 4 people it was a bit of a challenge to get all 4 wheels spinning at once, until I got the knack of setting two wheels going at once. There was a huge huge table on the floor that had a disk in the middle of it that spun, and it had a ball on it. You did the same thing with the ball that you did with the wheels, and then you hop on too. It was fun. There was another table bit the top of the table was cone shaped, and at the bottom there was a box full of ping pong balls. You took the ping pong balls out and threw them at the table and they spun spun spun until they reached the bottom where they jumped jumped jumped from side to side until they fell out the bottom into the box again.
I can see why there were so many people there - I bet they keep coming back. It was so awesome, I just want to go back there. We got kicked out because we stayed right till they were closing. We could have stayed all night, running around dodging them. See you everyone at School - talk to you soon. Bye.
NGAIRE:We leave this morning for Gretna Green and parts south of the border, after a lovely stay with Cian and Ann, and Ann's family. Thank you Ann and Cian and Niamh, Ann-Mary and Tommy, Martin, Michael, Louise, David and Julie for a wonderful time!
