Jambo!
Sorry if there are a few typos but the keyboards are pretty different here in Arusha and i'm running out of internet time (crazily slow connection - but cheap, just 2 dollars for a whole hour!)
After a bit of palaver in Nairobi Airport (trying to explain to the transfers desk that there IS such a thing as e-tickets and they weren't just fake boarding passes!) we got our tiny propeller plane into Kilimanjaro, and then a quick bus ride took us to the L'Oasis Lodge, where we'll stay until Saturday, being trained in safety, teaching techniques and intensive Swahili lessons from a smiley bloke called Charles.
Being thrown into a group of 36 people you barely know is pretty scary, it definitely feels like the first day of school! Luckily the girls I'm sharing a house with are lovely, and with any luck I'll remember people's names soon (right now I'm just calling girls 'Rachel' as we have four Rachels in our group....this strategy is actually working quite well).
It is gloriously hot here right now. I'd almost forgotten how beautiful Africa is. Our flight flew over Kenya at dawn, it was astounding, just so many beautiful colours. Also the short flight into Tanzania passed right by Kilimanjaro which was pretty special, it looked even more frightening from the air then when I was climbing it!
Well, right now I miss everyone quite a bit, but an AV Rep went into town to buy an African SIM for me, so I might even be able to call people tonight! I don't know really.
Ok, I think I've been typing long enough now, I'm off to find somewhere with a bit more shade!
Love you all so much xxx
