Finally we are in CapeTown, 3 days flying and connections we arrived exhausted early in the morning. Our hotel was gracious enough to let us book in early so could freshen up, we then decided to take a township tour so that we would stay awake and get adjusted to the time difference.
The townships were quite an experience, all conditions are improving, the people we had a chance to talk to seem hopefull, the kids were clean and healthy, all in all life is getting better. There is however a marked difference in conditions in the city area where we are staying, nice streets, boulevards, parks etc. many BMW's and Mercedes cars, high end shops and condos etc. I suppose that the poor cannot be helped if the rest of the population is not successful. There is a sharp contrast none the less probably seen more because of clear seperation of the haves and have nots.
CapeTown is a beautiful world class city, I like it very much and am anxious to get on the road and see more.
The VW is supposed to have been off loaded here today, so customs clearance etc. and we should be on the road. Ron
