Hi again! We had a nice time in Nairobi, at the car show, but we were happy to get out of the big city! We left at 5 AM and it took us an hour to leave Nairobi, we got lost and thanks to a sercurity company that helped us we finally made it out!
We made our way to the Equator the next day with a few stops along the way. It was very busy with people selling all sorts of things. We stayed at the Smaburu Lodge in Kenya and had some of the best game viewing to date!! I downloaded just a very few of the photos, they'll be more to come once we're home and do a web album. The next day we started on the road from Samburu to Marsabit, the first part of the road from HELL!! We camped over night and then the next day another full day of 20 KM per hour, see photos of road conditions!! Stayed in a basic Hotel that night, but we were so tired we didn't care...slept like a baby! If you like search that road on the web, there are many stories there. Most people break shocks ruin tires and a whole lot more, but our group made it through with hardly a scratch!! We are now in Ethiopia and what a welcome!! All the children waved and smiled and we had sore cheeks from our smiles back, it was great! I had this preconcieved idea of the country, dry and people starving, but it is a very green and prosperous country. We are off to Addis Ababa tomorrow and then on to Lalibela, check it out on the web it's a fantastic place....or just wait until we post the photos! We are so happy to have made the decision to continue! I know we probably had you all worried, but for not! I think we're getting into a groove now and things don't seem so hard. Love to all Wendy
P.S Ron is out doing more tinkering with VW.

Dan Glad to hear that you are going to continue, the photos so far have been great. I have been loving them. BTW it seems a stretch to call that a road. :) Enjoy yourselves.
Marcers That is good to hear, we were a little worried about you, you aren't easy to quit anything. Can't wait to hear all the stories and see the photos in person. Keep on having a fun and safe journey. We have been loving the photos and the updates thanks for including us...Terry & Gary
