Day 9 Brussels, Belgium-What a kick ass train ride. We ended up on a Thaly's train that flew from Paris to Belgium. Wine, Beer and Food later (and Wi-Fi, spoke with Debbie and Cameron) we arrived in Brussels. Stashed our bags at the central station and headed off to the square. For some reason we ended up heading a different way again (hhhhhmmmmm) and we stopped and asked someone before we got to far out of the way. They pointed back to where we had just come from. The square was large and very ornate. He stopped in on a local Belgium Brewery near the square and had a pint each I enjoyed my first Belgian waffle near the square, loaded with chocolate sauce. We then walked over to the Mannequin Pis a little statute that pees into a fountain. It was really built into this thing you must see, not sure if I would go back to see that. Came around the corner from the peeing statue and we ran into a tour bus and a few people dressed in black hanging out by the bus. Inquiring about what was going on we learned that Ronnie James Dio was about to exit the hotel and head to the concert being held in Brussels. We also learned that we had just missed Ben Harper and Black Sabbath. I decided to hang for a few to get a glimpse of the man himself, Dio. First his keyboard guy came out, I mistook him for a roadie and was told to "F" off! (nice guy) Finally Dio came out. I yelled out his name, had a brief conversation with him, got a few photos of him asking him to show the devil horns, and then he headed to the concert. Next we headed to Delerium Tremons the bar, not on the "Uncle Rick" list but soon one of our favorite bars of the entire trip. It was loaded full of beers and fun people. We hung out at the bar and talked with locals and a group of UCLA college girls on holiday. We then headed to the market and grabbed a beer to go and then boarded our train to Brugge. Brussels is a very nice city----Rock on Holy Diver!!!
