Day Five Austria-Per Tim, let's be up at 6AM as our train leaves the station for Italy at 7:15. My wake-up call rings at 0600; I talked with Debbie, showered, packed and headed downstairs for breakfast. The whole bottom story dining area was full of food: 10 different breads, Tons of fruit, pastries, cereal, fresh deli meats, boiled eggs, and cheeses. Expecting to see Tim soon, I loaded up on coffee and food!A little after 7 Tim Arrived and said that our train did not leave until 8 or so. We sat around and ate. I had a conversation with a man from Israel who was ex-special forces and had climbed all over the Alps, he recommends hiking in Croatia! At 8 Tim said it was time to go. I followed Tim out the door and down the street. Asking once if we were headed the right way, I realized that we were going to miss our train due to Tim's expert navigational skills! After 10 minutes of walking the wrong way and listening to him blame the man from Israel for our delay, we finally asked a local where the train station was. He laughed at us and pointed in the opposite direction that we had been traveling. He offered to give us a ride and we accepted. We ended up getting stuck in a traffic jam, bailed out of the car and headed to the train station sprinting down the street and through the station. We missed it and Tim was pissed! We booked ourselves on a later train, leaving in an hour. It worked out okay and somehow got us into Italy about the same time as the other train. We changed trains at Brenner Pass, and we were astonished at the sudden change in temperature. It was now snowing and about 40 degrees.
