So now I'm in Queenstown, 'the adventure capital of the world'.
Ice climbing was great fun! the glacier was just stunning and the weather was amazing so I had a great day. It was not as tiring as I thought it might be - technique avoids fatigue.
So after Franz Josef it was on to Wanaka. Wanaka is a nice town, but quite small. I had originally thought of staying longer here but I decided to get on to Queenstown.
Now that I'm here I'm glad that I cam straight here because I love it! It's not much different in size to my hometown, Newton Abbot and there is so much to do! (if you have the money which can be a problem).
The first day we drove into Queenstown, I did the Kawarau Bridge Bungy Jump which is 43m high and the world's first commercial bungy jump. That was amazing! I got dunked in the river up to about my waist which was nice and refreshing.
That night was a fairly heavy night due to it being the last day with our Kiwi Experience driver. Ginny (our driver) bought the whole bus a round of shots and got us huge drink discounts in the World Bar. I had a great night out that night.
The next day, me and Lykke (she's Danish) went to do the Nevis Highwire bungy jump in the afternoon. Wow that was good! It's 134m high, the highest bungy in New Zealand and the second highest in the world as far as I know.
It's strange but I have found bungy jumping more scary than Sky-diving. I think this is because you don't feel like you are falling when sky-diving because of the air resistance. When bungy jumping, the ground approaches much quicker and you really do feel like you are falling. fast. And that you would die if the bungy broke. real adrenaline rush. I thoroughly recommend it.
I have another 5 or so days in Queenstown so I'm sure I will find more andrenaline to be pumped!
