Hello all,
So sorry to have kept you all waiting. we are bad and very sorry.
So then the Inca Trail. I believe we had just finished the second day.... Yes it was hard, but amazing, so amazing. The third day was a great day we saw loads more ruins and the puzzle of the Inca's was all adding up... As in the way the ruins faced and the sun and the moon connection. So interesting. That night we were at a campsite that had a bar and hot water for showers, which was fantastic. although not much drinking went on as we had to be up at 3.45am to get to the Sun Gate. It was a really beautiful night with loads of shooting stars and fireflys which i had never seen before and they are so beautiful. So we were in bed by about 9.00pm after we had handed out tips to all the staff. (Bless them) They sang us a song in Ketchua, (There Language) it was a great night, especially good because we were nearly there..... It was very exciting indeed. So then.
We arose at ridiculous O clock and made our way to the check point where we waited in line for 45 mins. After this it was all go go go. We walked with our tourches in the pitch black and saw more shooting stars and after about a hour and a half we reached the Sun Gate. Now the sun gate is the place you see Matchu Picchu for the first time, and let me tell you it looked amazing.
So then after about 10 mins we carried on over to some ruins which gave us an amazing view of Machu Picchu. We stayed here to see the sun rise over the most impressive sight you could ever see. It is amazing how big it is. Pictures do no justice at all. It really is incredable.
So after being in amazement we went to Machu Picchu.... We had a long tour of the ruins which was fantastic and we finally had all the pieces put together and the history of the place is unbelievable. There is also still about 35% of the ruins hidden in forrest which is a huge proportion when you see the size of the place. I can honnestly say it is the most amazing thing i have ever done and to get that reward at the end was brilliant.
So then after me (Leanne) going crazy with the camera we lined up for Winapicchu. (The big mountain in the background)
Well this was a scary scary thing to do. we were literally climbing on our arses all the way up and down. And it was knackering to say the least. It took about 45 mins to get up and proberbly longer to get down because it was that scary. At one point on what should be called the stairs of death i stopped dead with fear, but knew if i waited to long i would never get down.
Well we made it in one piece, but with legs like jelly for the next 2 days. Bless us......
As soon as we got back we had the choice of going back to Argentina to go skiing or to go to the Amazon jungle.......... Rob got his way and we booked an 8 day tour of the Amazon, so we had to then change our flight to New Zealand and call home and all that, as we were leaving the next morning.
