On the 12th i went to try and sort out my Chilean Visa card, this being pretty important as i can't really travel without it! On the way we saw loads of protesters and heard a few gun shots, finally arrived there to find it was the wrong place . . ! Found the correct building, all sorted, then moved on to do the second part to arrive at the entrance and find they were in fact the ones on strike!
The next day at school . . . may have recieved a bit of a lecture about being late, again, hardely our fault due to trying to get a visa and curently staying in a hostel! In the afternoon, interestingly heard a load of load bangs, which i didn't really think anything of at first. Until i went up stairs and looked out the window to see some guy firing off rounds into the air with a crowd of people in the area holding up traffic. I then got told that this often happens when a local drug dealer in the area dies . . . harsh times :( Before we left Elouisa the Head teacher spoke to us, invited Tim over for some Christmas drinks ;) but i was only allowed to come if i spoke Spanish . . in a week, as that is clearly going to happen. She seems to look down on me for not being able to speak Spanish, even though it's not like she can speak English!
Had the Final day of school before they broke up for the holidays, which consisted of watching a lot of awards being given and stealing all the little kids sweet in their party. In the evening around 12ish watching T.V some random Chilean walked in and asked if we wanted some meat . . ? Of course we accepted their kind offer to find basically a fully BBQ of meat left which they had left over. The first bit they gave me i honestly thought might be a cows heart! But it wasn't so its all good and no food poisoning either . . happy days, and made some new Chilean friends.
The next day was followed by another BBQ at the hostel, probably the best quality one i have ever had YUMM!
Went to a huge mall one day, and if anything the clothes are more expensive, despite the fact people have less money to spend than us! A tad stupid even in my eyes, althought, already i have noticed how materalistic Chileans are.
Just returned from my first taste or travelling in Chile, i went with Tim and two Rhe and Lauren who had been invited by a Chilean, whom they had only met once before. On the way we stopped off for lunch at his aunts house, who was lovely . . . until she threatened me with a knife that is! The others were mocking the fact that i wasn't able to roll my r's, so she picked up a knife suggesting i let her cut my frenulum to make it easier for me to do Ha it's the thought that counts i guess.
Camping was a good laugh, we went to a beautiful vally near Talca. Home to 7 waterfalls, which you can get to with a short 7k walk. Never walked so slow in my life, it took most the day to get there . . . not that im calling girls slow, but! When we finally arrived, it was seriously worth it, the end waterfall was like a little secluded paradice with a deep blue surprisingly cold pool to go swimming. Then that evening, well 2 in the morning we watched a lunar eclipse sitting by the river, although pretty spectacular, it probably took about 2 hours for the moon to go fully red! And that wasn't even the end, but still finished off the day pretty well.
