So, just on the flight over i started getting my first impressions of Chile! I was sat next to a 60ish year old Chilean lady who was really nice and helped me with the visa forms . . . then proceeded to tell me that i was a good looking young man and not to get an ugly Chilean girl and to make sure i get a good looking one. Told me not call them agin if they weren't pretty and find another one, haha she was a funny lady and then after another 2 hours she gave me her email, ect and her sons and grandaughters number, who she mentioned was rather hot haha safe to say i had an amusing flight over!
My first day was awsome, it's so similar but at the same time completely different to home which is what made it so strange for me to understand and take in. The town is filled with stray dogs, which apparently 90% have actually do have a home and they just wonder about during the day leaving their crap all over the streets . . . lush! Chile also seem to have coppied America in a big way, largely i have seen this in the number of fast food joints followed by a huge number of Fatttt Chileans.
The second day i went to the school, pretty much living up to my expectations. The head teacher was extremely cold to me considering she didn't even get up to say hola, pretty mean when considering you greet all women with a hug and kiss (this is another thing i'm still finding strange)! I went in the English class room first and sure enough there was a bullet hole in the window and wall, Tim then said to tap the windows, so i did . . to find there infact bullet proof! Heard a couple nice stories so far: shootouts have happened out side the school, one day the headteacher was walking through the roughest area and saw 2 kids shoot each other 7 times where one died and the other died later in hospital, some students used ta set fire to tables and throw them out the classrooms from 2 stories up. So later that evening an English man two Irish women and a Scotish women walk into a hostel . . . that got messy! Haha we were then also joined by 2 Australians and an American where we proceeded to play kings for the rest of the evening.
Hangover!!!!! Then a bit of school only an 1.30 late that day atleast, but we're ony sortng out th classrooms a the majority of students have finished lessons for the holidays. In the afternoon we then met all the other volunteers for training.
Saturday checked out Santiago zoo with the Irish girls and the Aussie, where i was attacked by a possed parrot! Then we went to the mall later where English Christmas music was playing . . strange and in one store there was a dj playing reggaton pretty much hiphop/reggae, yet to try out an actualy club with it tho! next on the to do list i think.
