Roaminallover-Here, There and Everywhere
Sunday 4th August
Kangaroos for breakfast
Today we left our backpackers hostel at Caloundra for Dayboro (our workaway placement). We had a lovely drive there over the Glasshouse Mountains- getting the opportunity to have breakfast at the Lookout cafe. Whilst we were eating we spotted a Wallaby hopping about in the field below- with a little joey peeking out of the pouch. Difficult to get good pics due to the distance , but photo evidence just the same. We drove through another old style town – Woodford- which had lots of the old style shop frontages synonymous with old American towns before heading off over Mount Mee. On the way up we came across a small hall which was hosting the Mount Mee Market- a small craft style market – home made crafts, honeys, cakes etc. John was in his element when i left him in the cafe bit whilst i queued for his drink. The local elderly had obviously been rounded up- complete with walking frames so he felt at home. When we got to Dayboro we found they had a market on too- although they were starting to pack up by the time we got there so we popped into the information centre instead and got a thorough low down on the area from one of the locals. They are certainly very enthusiastic about their country and locality here.
Eventually we made it to our Workaway hosts Susie and Peter who welcomed us with open arms- literally. A night of wine and sausage soon made it seem as though we had known each other for ages.
