Where to begin. . . Holy s***! What an amazing freakin trip so far. This is the adventure we dreamed of and we are only 3 days in. We are driving out of Colorado and headed for Arches National Park, Utah with heavy hearts. Colorado really wowed us and this breathtaking drive on 70 West past Breckenridge and Vail has us high on life. We've had so many laughs in the past 2 days and nights in Denver and Boulder I think I'm starting to get abs ;)
Dylan and Zack were beyond amazing and we haven't stopped talking about them since we left. The most accommodating, welcoming, chillest dudes ever. We definitely got the full Colorado experience thanks to them. Tuesday night we checked out downtown Boulder. It was a beautiful night and the perfect endcap to our perfect first day. Wednesday morning we got up an a nice early 630 am and packed up to head towards Denver. We ended up taking Zack with us and their friend Dre. They showed us all around the city and shops. The drive back to boulder from Denver is beautiful. Having the van jam packed with people and belongings is what this trip is all about and we loved it.
It took us all of 10 minutes and 3 drinks at a sweet pub on Pennsylvania Street to coax us into staying another night with the boys. CO is too wonderful to do in 1 day and our next stop was too far for an evening drive anyways. Our lunch conversations were so far some of the best on this trip, we were cracking up the entire time. After a lovely daytime buzz (when in Rome) we were headed for another flawless day. We wanted to get back out on the town Wednesday night so we basically followed Zack to work. He works at a Mexican joint a few miles from their place. We naturally hit it up for happy hour and felt out of place the moment we walked in. Hands down the most classiest Mexican place I've ever been in. We of course sat at the bar, chatted up the bartender who very very slowly warmed up to us, and drank margaritas and ate salsa and guacamole so spicy (for me) that I felt like a fire breathing dragon. The local server boy chatting us up all night tried hard convincing us to go out after, but I needed to be out of public asap, I couldn't keep my giggles under control.
It turned into such a great time out and we headed back to the boys house just about the time Zack was getting home from work. The party continued on way past our bedtimes and the 530 am wake up call to get on the road was rough. After a super sad goodbye w the boys and lots of hugs, here we are back on our 70W and headed on to the next state and the next spot. We're going to miss the mountains, the comfy couches, and it'll be hard to out do these last two days, but we are super excited to camp and get on with the trip. The Rocky Mountains definitely have our hearts so far.
