On Friday evening we arrived in Blenheim at Josie's cousin Mark and his wife Fliss's house, they have two gorgeous children, Celia 3 and Harry 8 months. We spent the evening eating and drinking then me and Josie spent the night in the tent in the garden as Mark is currently doing up the guest bedroom!
The Marlborough region is famous for its wine production and all the guide books say to come on a winery tour here, we managed to go one better and time our trip so that we're here for the annual Wine and Food Festival! We shared a bottle of bubbly to get us in the mood then headed out at about 11am into Marlborough - the sun was shining and the wine soon started flowing! There were tents all around the field with each wine company in and we soon sussed out the cheapest ones and befriended the wine pourers so they gave us more generous measures!
There were loads of people around and good music so we spent the day drinking and dancing in the sun - awesome! At about 6pm we headed back into Blenheim to the afterparty in a pub, taught a few drinking games and continued dancing the night away! We ended in a club with some random people then hit macdonalds on the way home, eventually crawling back into our tent around 3am.
Such an awesome day and thankfully I'd been semi sensible and drank plenty of water during the day so didn't feel too rough on sunday. Me, Fliss, Josie and Celia went to the local farmers market and had an ice lolly and a look around, then in the evening we drove to the river and had a paddle, their huge golden retreiver Gus loved splashing around to cool down! Then we picked up some fish and chips and watched a dvd.
