28th- 30th AprilIt was really chilly today, we were told that it had been snowing between the Blue Mountains and Orange.Sarah told us that 10cm of snow fell on Mount Canabolas! Now time to go back to Sydney for our extended stay, arriving in the late evening we didn't do anything other than unpack and crash. The next day we went out to get our bearings and purchase travel tickets for the next week.We took the train to Circular Quay and got on a ferry to Watson bay.Doyle's restaurant is an old establishment and famous fish restaurant. We had a fish and chip lunch before having a little walk. The next day we awoke to bright sunshine so headed off to Bondi, the famous surfing beach. The beach is a large bay with really good waves. The surfers and surf schools were in abundance, it was a really good place to sit and people watch. We had a dip in the sea, the current was really strong and we were nearly bowled over a few times. There is a lovely cliff top walk from Bondi to Bronte Beach passing Tamarama on route. It was around 4km easy walking and gave breathtaking views of the coast line.May 1st - Thursday is the first day of the week that Paddy's market is open. The indoor market is full of fruit and veg stalls, fresh fish counters and of course numerous souvenir stalls. We bought fresh Tuna steaks, salmon and of course prawns.Plus lots of fruit and veg at a fraction of the cost we have been paying in the local supermarkets - we ate like kings!!Later we made our way to Darling harbour, this is a vibrant area with lots of bars and cafes etc. The Sydneysiders seemed to descend on the area after they had finished work. The Sydney Aquarium is at Darling Harbour and also open until 10pm so we went in.After viewing the usual small tanks showing the local fish life off, and also visiting a section on The Great Barrier Reef we came to the shark tank. There is a glass tunnel running through the tank so the sharks are able to 'swim over you'.Their teeth are really scary to see close up.I spent ages watching then trying to decide whether or not I could consider diving with them.Friday was again blue skies so we went to Circular Quay and got the ferry to Manly on the north shore. We spent another lazy day on the beautiful beach and having a couple of dips in the Tasman sea.The boys had bought a three day fishing licence so went off down through the Botanical gardens and chucked their lines out for a couple of hours. They caught various small whiting, wrasse, and bream but chucked them all back as none would have filled our plate - we'll have to go back to Paddy's market tomorrow!
