DAY 1
HEATHROW to DUBAI to BANGKOK
Well, after waving goodbye to my lovely mum n dad, and after telling Dad that "I know what I'm doing" when he tried to offer me advice on going through security, I had a mildly embarassing situation (which Dad can now read about triumphantly)!
The man asked me at the head of the security line - "Do you have any sharps, laptops, electricals, liquids..." blah blah. I shook my head and held up the plastic bag with mild annoyance, thinking " do I look stupid"!
anyway, went through the beepy machiney thing, which if Im honest, always terrifies me because, Im worried that I may have hidden a gun in my knickers and forgotten. it's for this precise reason that I think I would fail a JK Lie Detector Test.
where was I......back to the beepy thing! I PASSED!
Then after waiting behind a large group of Chinese school children, all being forced to wear their uniforms on a 14hr journey, I realised my bag had been kept back. oooo errrr!
I smiled at the lady apologetically and said "oh im so sorry I must've left something little somewhere".
"hmmmmmm" said she.
She pulled out my Kindle and I immediately said " Damn, I forgot about that".
I repeated this sentiment as she pulled out of my bag the following items for which I had not followed procedure.....
- Digital camera
- IPhone
- lipsalve
- 100ml perfume
- Liquid eyeliner!
By the end of this process, I was quiet ........and I muttered a genuine, but quiet apology as I stuffed my contraband back in my bag and made my way to departures!
(sorry dad)
My first EMIRATES experience has been very positive.
They mix their bloody mary's strong - as I discovered when I realised 42 minutes in that I'd been watching Elizabeth The Golden Age in Spanish for 50 minutes.
most folk on here are Silver Haired Travellers, although one group of young girls from Kent have kept me very much entertained. In fact, I spent atleast 20 minutes staring at one because I couldn't work out if she looked more like Shrek or the Trunchbull from Matilda.
The highlight of the entire journey was being met by a giant yellow sign at ARRIVALS in Bangkok and baloons and my two lovely friends.
