Monday 20 November 2006 - Melbourne & Neighbours Night
Tram ride around the city then off at Federation Square to see some sights. Rita appreciated the Art while Ellie went to take some pics of The Melbourne Cricket Ground, the river, the Chinese Theatre and the Art Centre. Spent the afternoon walking around the shops and found the Turf Bar - official headquarters for The Barmy Army apparently! Although nothing really there to show it was, but Ellie was assured by the barman so took his word for it and got the picture for her dad!
Back to the Elephant & Wheelbarrow where we were told the tickets for the Neighbours Night were SOLD OUT! We were not impressed!! Especially having been told that there was no need to buy them in advance. Went down early to try and get tickets on the door and luckily we did, then it was just a case of standing at the bar waiting for the stars!!
Dylan out first - again Ellie no idea who he was! Then came Boyd followed by Lynne Scully! Short interviews with them all answering a few questions from the crowd, then they walked around, while we all did the quiz, having pictures taken with everyone but no autographs allowed. They were really nice when having their pictures taken and were quite happy to pose with the Christmas hat and banner.
Next Waiting Room took to the stage, fronted by Dr Karl Kennedy! The girls went crazy and charged to the front of the dance floor - seriously you would think it was Robbie or someone!! But then again the only reason we got his autograph was because we bought his cd! And Ellie ended up with Boyd’s autograph after the whole 'Karl' confusion!
