So we decided the night before that we would try to get to Buenos Aires from Montevideo asap the next day because Argentina were playing Venezuala and "we" really wanted to go, Chloe was only too happy to get out of Uruguay!! We had also found out the night before that we would be staying in an one of the staff from the languages school´s appartment with his family ( we later found out that he wasn´t just a member of the staff but the owner of the whole school!!) Arrived in BA after a VERY early start and headed over to our appartment and immediately asked Federico if it was possible to still get tickets to the game. He sorted out a place where we could get tickets so again "we" were very happy! The game was amazing we were in the gods but the atmosphere was incredible I made the mistake of drinking some beer before the game and had to go to the toilet prior to kick-off! It was crazy after navigating myself to and from my seat I think the Inca Trail will be a piece of cake, I was dripping head to toe in sweat!! Anyway 4-0 to Argentina and a wonder show from the miracle man Messi made the early start well worth it!!
THe next day (Sunday) we decided to go to Recolata and see the fancy cemetary and where Evita is buried. It was very pretty beautiful but also very weird taking pictures of graves and looking through glass doors and seeing coffins and spaces for more coffins!! We spent ages walking around and finally found Evitas tomb which was a bit of a let down we were expecting a big fancy thing but it was only a plaque!! Left the cemetary and stumbled upon a Sunday Market and Chloe was like a kid on Christmas morning we lapped the market so we could price everything up before walking round again so Chloe could shop! (She has informed me that she aspires to be a hippy so be warned when she gets back and has dredlocks with beads and is listening to Bob Marley on the I-pod!). ANyway spent most of the afternoon looking and buying bits before walking around and taking in some of the sights in the area. A highlight is a massive metal sculture of a flower that closes at night time! That night we decided to treat ourselves and go for a slap up steak meal at La Cabrera which everyone (including the locals) claim is the best steak in BA. They were right it was unbelivable and whilst we had to wait for 2 hrs for a table and they somehow thought I wanted half (which was still enormous!!) the meal was out of this world. Needless to say Chloe was again a very happy bunny!
Monday was the start of school and we started bright and early at 9am doing the Intensive course we found ourselves out of our depth in a class with 2 other students who clearly were not beginners!! After the 5hr session finished we asked to change to the crash course which we felt would be a bi9t more practical and more our level. They said that the class started immediately and we could go if we wanted we agreed and spent another 4hrs "learning" spanish, most of which was the same stuff from the morning session so we looked pretty s***-hot compared to the other two guys, who weirdly were from Sheffield University and graduated in the summer too!
