Good evening!
Well we did have a kind of chilling weekend - and the storms are now over - worst they have had in 15 years, loads of evacuations but we were OK and it was sunny today - he, he!
On Friday we went to a Fantastic Asian restaurant called "Garuva". Walked past it about 3 times as it has no name or No. above the door and although the doors are open it is just plants and flowers for quite a way!
When you get in it is quite posh and the cocktail lounge has a few sofas but mostly giant floor cushions and low tables (not studenty tho - quite upmarket) and they had an amazing cocktail list so we had a cocktail 1st.
We got taken to our table - where all are individual booths where you sit on giant sofas with no legs - the floor - at low tables and each booth has a voile curtain on all 4 sides so it's very private and cutlery is chopsticks!
Food was great - spicy chilli prawns, cocunut tofu/veges curry and spicy chicken with rice and corn bread with babagannush (i know....it's like an indian spicy dip!) Washed down with another cocktail, then for pud we shared banoffi pie and went back through to the cocktail lounge.
They had a muscian playing, female singer and guitarist who were very good and i had a gorgeous cocktal of kahlua, creme de menthe, milk, ice and peppermint aero - yum!
Think we will have to go back before we leave!
Last night we went to a footi game (yes....i actually paid to watch a football match!!) but enough about that as Iain is dying to talk football!
We did an early morning 5km race this morning and Iain's time was excellent - 20mins 55secs and he led right up to 4km where he was overtaken and came 3rd man and 5th overall - i've turned him into a runner!! He,he! I did it in 23mins 53secs which is a bit faster than my last 5km so all is good!
This afternoon we just chilled in the botanic gardens and planned our New Zealand trip so that we could work out budgets.
Oh well it's a short working week this week as we have got Friday off - we leave on Thursday night with 3 of our flat mates to go to Fraser Island. Picking up our 4wd Friday morning and touring the island until Sunday night - camping out both nights! Apparently we need to be careful of the Dingoes (wild dogs) as there have been a few accidents on Fraser Island and the same with the 4wd as there's a technique apparently to driving on sand - oh well lets give it a go!
Speak soon,
Cxx
