Day 3 - The Tour Continues
The other harsher face of Bolivia, and this tour, is the constant changing weather conditions. At times it can be over 30 degrees and at night it can be as cold as -12 degrees, which meant we had to sleep in about 50 layers and still wake up freezing. Today was probably the easiest thus far, we lay in until about 7.00am, had excellent pancakes cooked by our chef for the tour and then visited a combination of different coloured lagoons including a bright red one which was pretty cool, climbed various rock formations that had been produced by volcanic eruptions, saw many species of wild flamingos and climbed an impressive dormant volcano.
We ended the day at our hostel made entirely from salt, which sat beside the salt flats. Everything from the beds to the light fittings were salt encrusted and we even were given a double room to ourselves which definitely beat sharing a dorm which we had done on the previous two nights. We also finally reached a hot shower which was a welcomed treat…even though the water pressure was definitely no Iguassu falls! After another delicious meal prepared by Ceila our Chef, we all retired to bed early to get some rest for the 4.45am wake up to watch the sun-rise on our final day.
