Manchester Day 10
Today was another day dedicated to football (for Luke and I). I got up earlier than the others and ran south of downtown to the Moss Side area and to the site of Manchester City F.C.'s old stadium, Maine Road. It was torn down about 12 years ago and was replaced by housing and a school. There is a little park with small monument showing the place where the stadium's center circle was located. Going from the old to the new... Luke and I then went to the Eastlands area and took a tour of Manchester City F.C.'s current stadiums, the Etihad. It was an interesting tour (for me) with an entertaining tour guide. I have been supporting MCFC for four years and have watched countless games on TV, so it was really cool to actually see it all in person. After the tour we headed back into the city center and met up with Amy and Ellie at the mall and had lunch. Luke and I spent the rest of the day at the National Football Museum. It covered the history of football in the UK and the world and had some really interesting artifacts (again, for Luke and I). You are probably wondering what Ellie and Amy were doing this whole time, right? They spent the day doing nothing, which they were both quite happy about. This tourist stuff is tiring! They did check out at the WWI and Football exhibit at the Football Museum, but did not stay that long. We ate dinner at the restaurant connected to our hotel. Tomorrow we head back to London.
