Woke up quite late at about ten, that's a lot of sleep, I feel like a student. The big roller coaster was going and I could hear people screaming as it whizzed round and round. We had coffee to wake us and checked out at eleven a.m. We asked if we could leave our bags there until later as we could not check in to the next place until three p.m. We headed to central Osaka on the train, it was only three stops. We got off and went in search of a sky tower (I know I was excited too), it was only a five minute walk and was frigging huge, it was two towers with what they describe as a 'floating garden' in the middle, the best way I can describe it was two towers with a platform in the middle. 'you will definitely have to pay to get up that, it's immense' I said, 'yeh I bet you will' was the reply. We chanced it and went firstly to the third floor... no tickets required or for sale so far. So we followed a Japanese family in the lift, there was a father, mother and a daughter. The lift started and we were on our way up, it went about ten metres up and there was just glass and was going very fast (much like Willy Wonka and that elevator) and as soon as you could see out the glass the Japanese mother hit the deck on her hands and knees holding her head scared out her wits, this made me howl with laughter, I was prodding Sarah and pointing at her saying 'look Sar it's funny' she replied in a whisper 'I know babe I can see', we got out and she wasn't amused 'that was really embarrassing', yes but also very funny. We then walked around and to get to the higher level we had to go up a huge escalator it was about as long as one of the huge ones on the London Underground...but was at a forty five degree angle and was just a long thin tube going in to this floating platform with nothing supporting underneath it. It looked amazing I jumped on and Sarah followed. We were now at the lower deck of the floating garden at one hundred and forty two metres up it was pretty high. Sarah was busy snapping loads of photo's when we found a part with a sign all in Japanese, well we couldn't read it so it didn't apply to us so we went in. There were five big round viewing portals with a wooden window ledge about a foot thick, I immediately laid down in one of them for a photograph, oh it were good (sweaty palms). Sarah reluctantly sat on the edge for a photo but looked terrified. After at least one hundred photo's we headed back down, then taking photo's from the bottom upwards. It still looked very high. We were now very hungry so went to find a vendor, this didn't take to long, I had a large rice with meat and Sarah a small, was very standard vendor food. After this a brief trip to 'family-mart' for some chocolate and back to the station to get the train back to Universal City to get our bags. At this point it was bloody freezing and the wind was piercing through our clothes, we got the bags and headed back to Osaka changing here to get the train to Marinoma . We then walked for thirty minutes to our next hotel, when we arrived at the door it was bang on three o'clock which was check in time, it was called 'Weekly Mansion' it was actually a studio so we had our own little, very little kitchen, this however did mean our culinary skills could stretch beyond pot-noodle. We headed back out to 'Family-mart' to get dinner and picked up spaghetti, bolognaise sauce and parmasan cheese, what a dream. Due to the cold weather that was it for the night so we cooked the tea and watched Bleak House (a period drama from the BBC), this kept us entertained for hours only stopping briefly to Skype Sarah's mum, my mum and mate Paul. Before we knew it it was midnight and that was sleep time.
