We awoke at about nine o'clock the room was very hot but on the positive side all our washing was dry. We had a shower and headed to the station for a day on the train, we headed for Motomachi station, as we have Japanese rail pass's which can only be bought by foreigners outside of Japan we have to go to the side of the automatic barriers and flash our card to the guard, when we got to the station Sarah went first and the div showed the guard her passport open on the photo page and kept walking 'passpor?' the guard said in a shocked manor, I was laughing as she went a lovely shade of red and got her pass out. We got on the train to Maiko station to see the worlds longest single span suspension bridge, when we got there I went into a local supermarket and bought a donut, I bit into it and it wasn't as sweet as an English donut but never mind it was tasty, I ate further and it had curry in it!!! I wasn't expecting that, thankfully it was quite tasty. Now Sarah laughed. We saw the bridge and it was long and suspended. We took a lovely photo of us in front of it and headed, after no more than ten minutes, back to the station. We then caught the train to Himeji, we went to tourist information to inquire about hiring a bike it was only bloody free, we got our key fobs and headed on the short walk to collect our bicycles, we went underground to the park for the bikes and picked up two little belters white and red. When the bloke handed over the bikes Sarah said 'Arrigata' (this means nothing in Japanese) she said she had learnt Hello (Konishiwa) and Thank you Arrigato) because Konishiwa means hello and Arrigato is like Aragon from Harry Potter, quite what that had to do with the Japanese language I do not know and it obviously didn't help her one jott . Back up on ground level we were having a bike round just two ladies on our bicyclettes, I loved it and kept saying this is 'bloody lovely, the only way to travel' may I hear your bicycle bell Sarah, 'ring ring' wonderful. The castle was under construction and covered in scaffolding (this seems to happen a lot), but it was a lovely place anyway. We went to 'bon marche' and got various Japanese snacks including deep fried fish, sweet potato, onion, spring roll and some sort of fish cake the undeepfried crisps, bread and a chocolate bar. We headed for the grass near the castle to eat it, was tasty but we were now very full. That said Sarah managed to squeeze in a bag of cookies. Back to the station to Sannomiya to a free observatory on the twenty forth floor of a hotel. I map read as Sarah had done so for the previous ten days and when she handed me the map I could see why, it was s***! That said now I was the tour guide I got us to the tower (more luck than judgment) and as I was providing the tour I kept providing factual information such as the twenty forth floor was opened to the public in nineteen ninety nine, and there was a big flower clock on a small mound this was a gift from the Sweedish in nineteen zero two to mark there declaration of independence, all of this was of course utter tripe and she didn't believe it for a second. The tower was good and had some good views. After that though we headed for a Sake brewery, yes! Sake it to me baby. I was excited about this as with my mates Adam, Paul and Owen we got wrecked and spent one hundred and sixty pounds on Sake when on a jolly in Bordeaux. We walked for the best part of an hour and we could not find this brewery so we headed for the train station, we could not find this either. We found the train line and walked along the side it for about an hour and came across a station only one stop from where we needed to be! We had a look round Sannomiya as it was now dark it was quite a vibrant place in the dark with all the lights. We got back to Motomachi about six thirty and went of course to 'family-mart' where I of course bought a 'pot-noodle' and some coke. In the hotel room we cranked up the heating and watched the Inbetweener's until about ten thirty then called it a night, I was out like a light.

Sarah The 'Passpor' incident is so funny! The way the guard said it in such shock!! Then ringing our bike bells (I think we got like a years pass for those bikes! We got that laminated card!), then all that food!! Then you will the nonsense with the clock and everything! That suspension bridge pic with us is ace! The curry donut - not sure it was nice?!
